AG23 – Vienna Gold

A week after the AG22 Summer Lightning clone I made the next brew. I had skimmed some of the Summer Lightning yeast off and stepped up a bit. I was aiming for a slightly darker beer and also the chance to use up some ingredients before they went off. This is more of an experimental brew and from the small sample I have had it tasted quite good.

Fermentable Weight (grams) Percentage
Munich Malt 455 4
Pale Malt 6070 53.5
Golden Promise Malt 3010 26.5
Vienna Malt 500 4.4
Crystal Malt 1000 8.8
Torrefied Wheat 300 2.7

I was brewing for a 50L batch with a desired gravity of 1.049 and final of 1.012.

Hop schedule as follows for a 60 minute boil, protofloc at 10 mins.

Hop Variety Weight Time
First Gold 97 60
Golding 32 10
Willamette 25 0

Given that I had some issues with my hop filter falling off on the previous brew I modified the connector and attached properly this time. The filter was too small for the amount of hops that I was using so a new one was required.
